Welcome to The Arts Society Essex Area, which represents twelve individual Societies throughout Essex, with over 2,500 members. In 2018 we are celebrating 50 years since the foundation of The Arts Society (formerly known as NADFAS), which is a national charity working to advance decorative and fine arts education and to preserve our artistic heritage.
To celebrate this milestone year all the Societies in Essex are coming together to present a day of celebration in Braintree on Saturday 22 September 2018 which we hope will appeal to anyone interested in the arts and in finding out more about The Arts Society, what it is, what it does and how you can enjoy and learn more about the arts. Highlights include
an exhibition of work done with young people in our Young Arts programmes
an exhibition of Societies’ Heritage Volunteering and Church Recording projects
special talks and tours of the Warner Textile Archive and Braintree Museum and Art Gallery
a lecture on 5000 Years of Glass in 60 Minutes by Andy McConnell of the BBC’s ‘Antiques Roadshow’ in Bocking Arts Theatre
More details are available on the Upcoming Events page.
